the fibertopia - episode 1

Hello, friends!  Its been quite some time since I've updated this blog.  Last year, I changed the layout with the idea that I would start up blogging here again, but it fell by the wayside.  Last year was very busy for me and my family.  Now that things have settled down, I've made more time for knitting.  One of my goals for 2018 was to knit just a little bit every day, and so far I've been very successful.

I hope to start posting more regularly here, if only to share what I've finished.  But, my goal is to share things along the way, such as works in progress, lovely knitting things, and my newest creative endeavor -- a knitting YouTube podcast.  I'm no stranger to YouTube, having created my first channel almost 6 years ago.  The strange thing is talking about knitting.  So much of my online life has been taken up with slightly superficial topics, like fashion and beauty.  Having a channel to talk about knitting feels much more personal, thus I do feel nervous about starting this up.  Without further rambling, here is my first episode of the fibertopia knitting podcast.  Please let me know what you think!

Recently Finished Project

written in September 2015:

Well, hello there!  Long time, no see ;)  I took an unintentional break from this blog, and now I'm ready to get into the swing of things again.  I wanted to share some recently finished projects with you.

And now, in present time....:)

I meant to come back full force with my knitting projects, abandoned this draft, and then forgot about it! Since I'd already finished it, I will want to share this FO.  I've knit a few things since this shawl, so keep a look out for those in the next few weeks!

Pattern: Romeo Shawl by Joji Locatelli
Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug in Tapis, 400 yards
Needles: US 4

Project page here.

I knit this up for the Joji Fall KAL group on Ravelry.  I joined the KAL on a whim, and I am so glad I did!  It was the perfect way to get back into the swing of knitting.  That combined with the impending fall weather has me knitting up a storm right now.  This shawl is going to be so pretty when the weather cools down.  I will definitely be making another Romeo Shawl in the future.  It would be gorgeous in a lighter weight.  I blocked it lightly, but now I'm wondering if I should block it again more aggressively.  The picot edging is still curling a bit, and I'd really like it to stand out more.  Despite that, I love it!

Christmas Knitting

Have you started your Christmas knitting?  I started this past month with a pair of socks for my husband.  I have a couple more projects on my list that will be Christmas presents.

If you're in the market for some spinning fiber or yarn for Christmas projects, check out my shop!  I have quite a few skeins and braids that would be lovely for your projects.

 Thank you for stopping by!

Another Small Fiber Update!

I've updated the shop this morning with a couple fiber braids.  This is a new colorway to the fibertopia shop

I'd like to introduce to you, Seaside!  This is a gorgeous, muted colorway with shades of grey, yellow, and pink throughout.  This particular braid is 100% Corriedale, which is so, so soft.  This colorway was inspired by the soft, relaxing colors of the seaside.

Make sure to check out the other items I've posted in the shop!
